What bankruptcy is

Bankruptcy is the inability of a debtor, recognised by a commercial court, to restore its solvency and satisfy the creditors' claims recognised by the court other than through the application of the liquidation procedure.

Bankruptcy is a complex procedure that requires a considerable amount of highly specialised knowledge and practical experience. Without them the procedure may drag on indefinitely and take a course quite different from the one the owners of the enterprise intend.
